I'm seeing many failed logins on my VPS?

You may have noticed the following on your VPS,

Last failed login: Tue Feb 13 12:21:02 EST 2018 from WWW.XXX.YYY.ZZZ on ssh:notty
There were 7275 failed login attempts since the last successful login.

This happens due to many compromised/botnets searching for machines with SSH on port 22, to fix this, please change your SSH port away from the default port 22.
