Installing Webmin on CentOS

Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any modern web browser, you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and much more. Webmin removes the need to manually edit Unix configuration files like /etc/passwd, and lets you manage a system from the console or remotely.

Installation :

Note: At the time of writing this wiki article, Webmin 1.620-1 was the latest, we suggest you check out Webmins Soureforge project page and look for the latest version and download and install it

1. You'll need to disable SELinux or else you wont be able to access your Webmin install, see this on how to disable SELinux

rpm -U webmin-1.630-1.noarch.rpm

4. The rest of the install will be done automatically to the directory /usr/libexec/webmin

The administration username set to root and the password to your current root password.

5. You should now be able to login to Webmin at the URL

http://<VPS IP HERE>:10000/

Replace <VPS IP HERE> with the IP of your VPS.
