How to Create a Package in WHM
Web Host Manager (WHM) allows you to create hosting packages to simplify and standardize the hosting options offered to clients. A package in WHM defines resource limits (like disk space, bandwidth, etc.) and feature options (like CGI access, cPanel theme, etc.).
This guide will walk you through the steps required to create a package in WHM.
Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Package in WHM
Step 1: Log in to WHM
Access WHM using the URL provided by your hosting provider, and log in using the 'root' user credentials or as a reseller user with the "Add/Remove Packages" privilege.
Step 2: Navigate to the Packages Section
Once logged in, go to Home > Packages > Add a Package. This is where you can create and manage hosting packages.
Step 3: Enter a Package Name
In the Package Name field, enter a unique name for the new package. This name will be used to identify the package throughout WHM.
Step 4: Configure Resource Settings
In the Resources section, specify the limits for the hosting account, such as:
- Disk Space (in MB)
- Monthly Bandwidth (in MB)
- Maximum FTP Accounts
- Maximum Email Accounts
- Maximum Databases
- Maximum Subdomains, etc. Set these values according to the resources you want to allocate to this package.
Step 5: Set Additional Options
In the Settings section, configure additional options for the package, such as:
- cPanel Theme: Choose the theme that users will see.
- Feature List: Select the features that will be available (e.g., SSH access, AutoSSL).
- Locale: Choose the default language for cPanel.
After configuring the resources and settings, click the Add button to create the new package. WHM will save the package with the defined settings, making it available for assignment to new or existing accounts.
By following these steps, you will have successfully created a new package in WHM, allowing you to standardize hosting options and efficiently manage your clients' hosting needs.
