How to Install Coolify on Ubuntu 26.04
Coolify is an open-source, self-hosted Heroku/Netlify alternative that helps you deploy and manage applications, databases, and services with ease. It comes with a simple web dashboard and supports multiple app stacks.
NOTE: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon) was released in April 2026 and is supported until April 2031. Coolify's current documentation recommends LTS releases for automated installation.
Prerequisites Checklist 📝
- Server: A clean instance of Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
- Resources: Minimum 2 CPU cores, 2GB RAM, and 10GB free disk space. Additional resources are recommended for running multiple applications.
- Architecture:
amd64orarm64 - Access: Logged in as the root user or a user with
sudoprivileges - Ports: Ensure 22, 80, 443, and 8000 are open in your firewall
Prepare the Server & Firewall 🛡️
Update your system and install curl:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install curl -y
Configure the firewall (UFW) to allow the necessary ports:
# Allow SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, and Coolify Dashboard
sudo ufw allow 22/tcp
sudo ufw allow 80/tcp
sudo ufw allow 443/tcp
sudo ufw allow 8000/tcp
# Enable the firewall
sudo ufw enable
Check the firewall status:
sudo ufw status
Run the Quick Installation Script
Coolify provides an automated installation script that installs and configures the required components:
curl -fsSL https://cdn.coollabs.io/coolify/install.sh | bash
The installation may take several minutes. Wait for the installer to complete and display the Coolify dashboard URL.
IMPORTANT: Use a fresh Ubuntu server whenever possible. Existing Docker installations, applications, or services can cause conflicts during installation.
Verify the Installation
After the installation finishes, check that the Coolify container is running:
docker ps --filter name=coolify
You can also check the Coolify logs:
docker logs coolify --tail 50
If the installation was successful, the Coolify dashboard should be available on port 8000.
Access the Coolify Dashboard 🌐
Open your browser and go to:
http://Your_IP_Address:8000
Replace Your_IP_Address with your server's public IP address.
Initial Setup (Admin Account) 👤
On your first visit, you will be asked to create your administrator account:
- Set a username
- Provide your email address
- Choose a strong password
Then log in to your Coolify dashboard.

Set Up a Custom Domain (Recommended for HTTPS) 🔒
Accessing Coolify through an IP address and port is suitable for initial setup. For regular use, configure a custom domain with HTTPS.
-
DNS Configuration: Add the following A records pointing to Your_IP_Address:
@→Your_IP_Address*→Your_IP_Address(optional, for deployed applications)
-
Coolify Configuration: In the Coolify dashboard, go to Settings and configure the Instance Domain, for example:
coolify.yourdomain.com
Coolify can then configure the reverse proxy and SSL certificate for the instance.
After DNS propagation and SSL configuration are complete, access the dashboard using:
https://coolify.yourdomain.com
Back Up Coolify Installation Secrets 🔐
After installation, back up the Coolify environment file:
/data/coolify/source/.env
This file contains important installation secrets, including the APP_KEY, which is required when restoring a Coolify installation from backup.
WARNING: Keep the
.envfile secure and do not expose or share its contents.
