How to add additional IPv4 on Windows Server 2019

In this article, we will learn how to configure multiple IP addresses in Windows Server 2019. The procedure remains same in other versions like 2016, 2022 as well.

This guide will go through the steps needed to configure an IPv4 address in windows server 2019.

Step 1: Open Network and Sharing Center

Login to the Windwos server using RDP or via VNC.

Click on the Start menu to open Control Panel.

In Control Panel, click on Network and Internet menu, this should open the Network and Sharing Center.

Step 2: Configure Additional IP Address

Now click on Network and Sharing Center.

Click on the Change Adapter setting.

In the Ethernet or Wi-Fi settings, open the Properties menu by clicking on the Properties option.

Then select the IPv4 option and click on the Properties button.

Configuring the IP Address:

Click on the Advanced button and you will have a window where you can configure multiple IPs.

Under the IP Address section,

You can configure one or more IPv4 addresses. To add a new IP address, click on Add... button and input the new IP address.

Under the Default Gateways section,

You need to add the Gateway of the IP address that is associated with the IP address. (For a subnet, there is usually a single Gateway address)

Once the IPs and the respective Gateway has been added, Click on the OK button and apply the changes.

Step 3: Confirmation

You can confirm the configured IPs from command prompt with the following command:

ipconfig

This will show you all the IP Address the Windows Server is configured with.

Additionally, you can also confirm by opening an RDP connection from the configured IPs.
