How to Install AlmaLinux 8.4 Stable

AlmaLinux OS is an open-source, community-driven project that intends to fill the gap left by the demise of the CentOS stable release. AlmaLinux OS is a 1:1 binary compatible fork of RHELĀ® 8 guided and built by the community.

Login to your VPS Control Panel (https://crownpanel.com/)

Mount the AlmaLinux 8 ISO Image

To begin with the installation process, you need to first mount the AlmaLinux 8.4 ISO to your Server.

To mount the ISO select the CD-ROM Tab and select the AlmaLinux 8.4 Stable ISO from the drop-down and click on Mount button. You can click here to the following guide to mount the ISO to your server.

The ISO mount process may take upto 2-3 minutes.

Once the ISO has mounted (Task Log tab will show the status of the task), navigate to "Power Control" tab and then perform a Reboot task on the server.

Now, Switch to the VNC Tab and click on "Launch VNC" to launch the web based VNC console to start the AlmaLinux 8.4 installation.

If the VPS hasn't booted yet into the AlmaLinux 8.4 installer, please click on the CTRL+ALT+DEL button from the VNC console to send a reboot signal to the VPS to boot into the installer.

Once you booted into the AlmaLinux installer,

Select Install AlmaLinux 8.4 and then press Enter key to proceed with installation.

Select the preferred language and click on continue.

Enable Network

Now click on Network & Hostname to enable the network and configure the Hostname on the Server. ab

If you would like to keep the Network Dynamic / DHCP (default configuration), Enable the network and Enter the Hostnane for the server. Then click on the Done button. ab

Disk Partition Configuration

Select Installation & Destination to create/configure the Partition on server.

Now select the Custom option under Storage Configuration and click on the Done button. ab

Select Standard Partition and then click on the Plus(+) button to create the partition.

In this guide, we have selected only / Mount Point. If you want, you can select multiple Mount Points. Once you selected Mount Points, click on the Add mount point button. ab

Now verify the created partitions and then click on the Done button.

Then select Accept changes.

Login Password Configuration

Select the Root Password to set the password for root account.

Begin Installation

And Begin Installation.

After installation is completed unmount the ISO and reboot the server. Wait for a few minutes for the reboot to complete, after that you will see the login prompt.
